Be Careful When Buying Software!Posted by Matt - September 6, 2007 on 6:43 pm | In Anti-Spyware Programs, Anti-Virus Programs |I buy a lot of software! I’m sure many of you have too! I wanted to remind you to always be sure to read the “small” print when purchasing software. Reputable software companies make known up front their policies regarding support, returns, and refunds if there are problems with the software. Some companies hide their policies so that you won’t know the policy until AFTER you’ve purchased it. If you are in doubt, I recommend that you email their support and ask the policy before purchasing. Here is a recent example of a problem I ran into. I recently purchased an upgrade to a spam filter (Choicemail). I didn’t run the trial first because I had the old version previously. I found out quickly while trying to install it that it would not function/work properly with my Operating system and Email program. No problem I thought… I hadn’t seen a no refund policy so I contacted support. Support states that in their license it specifies no refunds. Of course the only way to view the license is to install (or try to install) the software (after the purchase). If you are looking for a good spam prevention program I would recommend SpamBully. If Choicemail chooses to make this right I will let you all know. Until then…. buyer beware! Matthew
